John Kunkel is the Owner and Branch Manager of JK Home Loans, LLC, a branch of Heritage Mortgage KC. Licensed in Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, and Missouri, John brings more than 26 years of professional experience spanning business leadership, finance, real estate, and mortgage lending.

His background includes both banking and mortgage brokerage, giving him a practical understanding of loan programs, underwriting guidelines, and financing strategies. John is a graduate of the Barret School of Banking, a Certified Mortgage Advisor, and holds a B.S. in Leadership and Management from Harding University.

Before entering the mortgage industry, John held leadership positions at the corporate offices of Walmart and PetSmart. Those roles helped shape the structured, service-focused approach he brings to JK Home Loans today. He works with first-time and repeat homebuyers, homeowners, real estate investors, and business owners.

John is committed to making the mortgage process easier to understand. His approach centers on honest guidance, practical solutions, clear communication, and dependable updates. He also works closely with real estate professionals to review financing scenarios, address challenging properties, and help transactions move toward closing.

John remains active in supporting the communities he serves. Outside of lending, he owns and operates a fifth-generation family farm raising Angus cattle and other livestock. The values of hard work, family, and community that guide the farm also shape how he leads JK Home Loans and serves his clients.
